ESPN 40th Anniversary
Produced at: Compadre
Client: ESPN
My Role: Producer (Edit, Graphics)
Work: Broadcast content
Overview: Since Sept 7, 1979, ESPN has been the trailblazer in the wonderful world of sports. To celebrate the milestone, the network landed the one and only Snoop D-O double-G and the royal Queen Latifah to drop some rhymes and show the network lots of love.
Challenge: A ruby anniversary is kind of a big deal, so we wanted the videos to feel special and unique. From the time of shooting to the air date, there’s wasn’t a whole lot of time to perfect them, not to mention the deadline couldn’t slide being a specific occasion and all.
Approach: Compadre had the right combo of talented illustrators, animators, editors, and creatives to whip together a hip, fresh, and vibrant pair of cuts sure to get anyone tuning in to sing along and do a little dance number in their living rooms. We infused some vintage elements with modern graphics to bridge the gap between 1979 and 2019. In the end, the late nights were worth it; here’s to 40 more YEARS!
