Discovery Channel Rebrand

Overview: In 2016, after years of heavy 3D graphics, Discovery wanted to go flat and simplify things immensely. I led a crew at Radley to design and animate a streamlined and refined graphics package, while also developing new strategy and an updated, edgy brand voice to connect with the core audience.
Challenge: We didn’t want to change things up too much and risk losing any devoted viewers, but had to come up with clever ways to freshen up the well-established brand. Discovery wanted to simply the graphics big time and let the beautiful footage be the hero in every frame.
Approach: We used a pointy indicator to direct the eye, which also doubles as a talk bubble of sorts to illustrate the brand voice. The end result is clean yet punchy. Check out this reel Radley cut that showcases how it turned out.
